Collective performance, video and publication, ars viva Prize, Berlin 2000
For unternehmen:bermuda, a meeting with the jury for the ars viva Prize that included several representatives of leading german corporations and banks who are members of the awarding Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft im BDI (Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy at the Federation of German Industries) was relocated from the artist’s studio to a bus stop in Berlin Mitte. The bus stop was situated within a triangle demarcated by three important institutions of art and science. The selection process of the jury became a collective performance. The meeting was secretly recorded using video, photography and a baby monitor. A second video was produced after the prize was awarded to the project. In this video various relationsships between cultural practitioners and potential patrons are placed in a narrative structure resembling a battleship game. The two videos were played side by side.
